Svetlana Bozhkova is a Master of Chemist from the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy. She has successfully completed numerous courses and specializations to improve her qualification as a waste management expert.
She was a Head of the Department of Municipal, Biodegradable and Construction Waste, Waste Management and Soil Protection Directorate, Ministry of Environment and Water. She was responsible for the planning, organization and management of the activities of the department for implementation of national and European policies in the field of waste management.
She has coordinated and participated in the development and coordination of documents of a normative or methodological nature, the activities related to the commitments under the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and relations with other agencies. It also coordinated the administrative, financial and technical management of ISPA/Cohesion Fund projects under Council Regulation (EC) 1164/94 of 16 May 1994 establishing a Cohesion Fund (OB, L 130, 25.05). 1994), having participated in departmental and interdepartmental working groups, and expert councils for consideration and adoption of projects and programs, including the Supreme Expert Ecological Council and the Interdepartmental Expert Ecological Council.
She has more than 18 years of practical experience in the field of waste management. She has experience in Operational Program “Environment”, Bulgarian-Swiss Cooperation Program, ISPA / Cohesion Fund and others.
